April kicked off with a 10-day training camp with the university triathlon squad in Lloret de Mar. We were pretty lucky with the weather as it was sunny and 20 degrees for almost the whole camp. The facilities were great as we had a 400-meter track right next to the hotel and a 50-meter pool within a 5-minute walking distance. The main highlight of the holiday/training camp was riding around Girona, especially the undulating coastal road which had a great view looking out to the sea. I managed to achieve a new weekly mileage PB for cycling of 590 km with over 9500 meters of elevation which was decent. Overall, I had a great time and can't wait to go back next year.

Following the camp, the focus shifted to the BTF performance assessments which was the first race of the British Triathlon Super Series. The race was split up into two days, the first being a 400-meter swim TT in a pool (no lake swim as the lakes are too cold this time of year), followed by a bike to run on the second day. I was relatively happy with the 800-meter TT with a new PB of 9:07; however I knew it would be tough to get onto the front pack with a ten-second gap to make up to the front group of 8. Sadly, on Sunday, I just missed the front pack and ended up riding with a group of 3 for the 20 km which we eventually lost 40 seconds by the end of the ride. I managed to catch up a few positions on the run to finish 5th, which was an okay result.

On a more positive note, after 2 months, I'm back on my normal weekly mileage post-injury, which is a great relief. After the performance assessments, I managed to complete a decent mini-block of training, which should set me up nicely for the next races which are BUCS Sprint Triathlon this weekend, followed by Llaneli the following weekend.
