Winter training didn't get off to the best of starts. Sadly I got ill in November time, therefore, my training took a bit of a hit, however, I wasn't worried as I knew I still had the majority of the winter left to get back up to speed. From December through to March I was consistent and manage to escape all illnesses my training was going well, and was looking forward to what will hopefully be a good season ahead.

One of the key races to check my run fitness post-winter training which I wanted to focus on was English Schools cross country on the 18th of March. This year I was top of my age group and was hoping to top my 30th-ish place last year. It however all went downhill as the week before I caught a chest infection and was on anti-biotics and in bed for four days. Frustratingly this affected my race, as on race day I was still not fully recovered and therefore didn't get the result I was aiming for. Nevertheless  I still kept my head up as the first race of the triathlon season was the weekend after, which was an ETU cup race in Quarteira. This also however didn't go too well as I just didn't feel myself in the run post-illness, however I still learnt many valuable lessons which I will take forward through the triathlon season.

Sadly I kept repeating the cycle of getting better in which I got back to normal training, and then getting ill again. This also lead to me getting a DNF on the BTF performance assessments which was a qualifier for an ETU CUP race. After recently going back to the doctor I am back to normal therefore am hoping to get my fitness back up to speed for the world championship qualifier at the end of May.

For the next few months, I hope to restart my training consistency, but also need to focus and manage my time effectively to get the grades I need for A levels,.
